New Beginnings

So how did 2013 turn out for you?

For me there was a huge unexpected ending over the last three months that caused me to really stop and have to put many things aside, including regular blog writing. I was in maintenance mode, mostly maintenance of and for myself.  If you know me that is not usual. In fact that failure to care for myself was one of the factors for changing my life in a direction that I did not expect it to go.

Now 2014 has arrived. My plans, dreams and expectations have had to change. I was saying I needed to redesign my business, its just not the way I would have chosen to do it.

Most people die at 25 and are buried at 75 – Benjamin Franklin

I took the approach with three very distinct questions;

  1. If I was starting all over again, but knowing what I know now, what would I do differently?
  2. What have I been doing over the last few years that I love doing, and what can I do without?
  3. What do I want to be telling you at the end of 2014 that I have been involved in, achieved and am proud of?

So first things, first. Square Peg Solution as a company is no longer. For a while I had already been redirecting my Square Peg website to this blogsite.  In a way it was a little hypocritical when I am espousing the merits of personal branding but not communicating my own fully. So my new company is Paul Copcutt Unlimited and all future connections and contact are through the charlesb32.sg-host.com domain.

The personal brand of Paul Copcutt is going to be a little more transparent. What I am going and will be going through is not new. But I believe many people could benefit from my sharing in more detail and with openness and honesty the ups and downs.  So as I learn so will you.  I am excited about sharing my journey and helping you on the way.

Life is going to be very different this year. It is going to require much greater focus and discipline. It means only working on projects that utlise my unique abilities. It is also going to mean saying No more often.

How is 2014 going to be different for you?

  1. Sounds good Paul. I’ve been doing similar soul searching, and taking the time to know what it is I really want. Making these decisions now will help me to know what to say yes to and what to say no to. I’m looking forward to living a brand that is really in tune with the real and most valuable me – thanks Paul.
