Seth Godin has done it again – at least as far as I am concerned. A while back he posted on his blog a story about someone getting a job by supplying only their references and not a resume.

It’s a great insight. Too many people in my audiences rely on a resume and not on their reputation.
A resume tells me where you’ve been.
A cover letter tells me where you want to go.
A reference tells me who agrees with you.
