"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
Today in the US is a holiday, Martin Luther King day, a great example of a personal brand – he had Vision, Purpose, Values and Passions – 4 key elements to a strong personal brand, what Simon Sinek calls his WHY?. The fact that his legacy continues over 40 years after his death is testament itself that it was an authentic brand.
He’s got the right stuff but labeling what he did as personal branding I feel takes away from the importance of his ideas and the courage he had to share them. If only he were alive to tweet and blog today… He had to have far more courage than we do because he put himself in front of the people who loved and depsied him and everything he stood for.
Thanks Angie. I agree what he has done should not be labelled personal branding because it is much more than that. But it is part of the make up of his personal brand, its part of the essence of who he is. Personal branding is a descriptor certainly not a label.
