Last week was crazy busy, compunded even more so by a cracked back molar and stomach flu!
But I am not sure if I was 'Screensucking', 'Taildogging' or 'Frazzing' !!!!
A new book by psychiatrist Edward M Hallowell entitled "Crazy Busy: Overstretched, Overbooked and About to Snap! Strategies for coping in a world gone ADD" shares some of his ideas about monitoring your mood at work – and the fact that it's okay to reset your brain now and again.
Screensucking: Wasting time looking at any screen – video, TV, computer etc
Taildogging: going fast or pushing harder becuase other people are and you do not want to get left behind
Frazzing: multitasking ineffectively (guilty!)
Doomdart: an obligation that you forgot about that suddenly comes in your mind
Kudzu: the unstoppable stream of minor requests from people
Info addicts: a person addicted to keeping up with what's going on from second to second (sometimes guilty!)
Any other words you have come across that apply to 'Crazy Busy'?
Kudzu, that overambitious southern US weed that creates an environment choking jungle wherever it roots, is the perfect descriptor for the stream of requests from others for our time.
From what I’ve read, it even thrives on certain herbicides; The best approach is a machete.
A Machete may also be the best approach to reducing unfillable requests of your time from the time bandits.
