Polar vortex’s aside has this month seemed like a whirlwind? Over 8% of the year has already gone by!
It certainly seems that way for me. Since the new beginnings post I have been working at getting in to a routine that addresses my new life format going forward. With my separation I now have the children 50% of the time, one week on and one week off. That means in the weeks I do not have them can be (if I choose) full tilt at the business. Of course the opposite applies when I do have them. I now really have a productivity window of 9 am to 3 pm. This is not a complaint in any way, its an observation.
Three F-ing things that this new reality has helped me address that I may not have done otherwise:
1. Focus. – I cannot afford to work on ‘nice to do’ projects or items that may or may not work out. I have to be much more discerning with my resources (read time!).
2. Finances – I know my true value again and am preapared to true to that. Much better to spend time developing work that appreciates that and realises it than chasing every piece of work, it makes a difference in mindset and confidence.
3. Flexibility – I need to bend sometimes, Its not always all going to get done when I planned. I have come to understand that what was happening before was stifling or restricting. I have found renewed energy for what I do, am loving interacting more with people again and really enjoying the freedom that brings.
Take a moment this week to review that first 8% for yourself. What lessons have you learned and what tweaks do you need to make to your 2014 plans?
