We Need You to Stay on the Bus

Staying on the Bus is a chapter in the book, 4,000 Weeks by Oliver Burkeman, that I am reading each morning at the moment.

It resonated with me for a couple of reasons.

The first is the intention of the chapter, to impress upon the reader on a journey that jumping off too soon, without putting on the work and evolving, might lead to the frustration of never truly reaching your destination.

Initially, the journey (your work) may be similar to what others are doing, often because you have tried to emulate what those before you have accomplished.  It gets seen as that. so you jump off and try something new, rather than push through to the next level of that work, when creativity and uniqueness might kick in.

It made me think of my business and the various iterations over the years that seem to be roughly in 3-5-year cycles.

The second is more about the happenings of the week with the election. Even though we may be disheartened by the results now is not the time to jump off the bus.
