This past weekend has been a double celebration. Another birthday but for me much more of a celebration 3 years post cancer clear.
In some ways it feels like yesterday, in others such a different time in my life. My 50th birthday was in part spent as you see in the picture above, being bolted to a metal table in my custom radiation mask to receive one of my daily treatments. Very quickly I found that this ‘alone’ time was a great opportunity to answer the eternal question – have I found my purpose?
I answered that question fairly early on in my treatment and I know that;
- What I do is important. My desire is to see everyone at least have the opportunity to consider their purpose.
- I am very good at what I do. You may think what you have going on is a jumble or makes little cohesive sense, but I can see through that.
- It really does not feel like work. We all have days that may not be as good as others, but I never look back at a day and regret helping others.
Finding your purpose is a critical aspect of the personal branding process. I certainly would never want you to have to go through my experience to get that answer. There are easier and much more enjoyable ways and if you like I would love to help you get there.
Meaningfulness, proficiency, and “play”? Sounds as though you advocate a strengths-based approach, Paul: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuZBJQAFOfM. Best, Mike.
Big fan of strengths based approach for sure Mike
