This is the core message of Gary Vaynerchuk’s latest book Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook – How To Tell Your Story in a Noisy, Social World.
Although the book is referring to business brands and marketing, the tactics and approach can be applied equally to your own personal brand. either way ignore this book at your peril!
Here is my recent quick Amazon.ca review;
@GaryVee has done it again but this time gone way beyond. In his first two books Crush It and The Thank You Economy he told us how important it was to ‘give’ before we ask. Good manners you might think, but in a busy, noisy, non-stop social media driven world we forget and he does not want us to.
A give to Gary, using the analogy of this latest book, is a Jab. Now in #JJJRH he tells us the importance of the right types of Jabs for the various platforms – what he calls going native. And then the equal importance of the Ask – the Right Hook – being equally suited to the medium and the audience.
But the real value of this book is his 80+ real life examples of small and very large businesses who get it and those that do not.
Regardless of whether you are looking after a huge Fortune 500 brand, run your own small business or are looking to manage your own personal brand you cannot ignore what this book has to say. I will guarantee you will get an aha in the first three chapters – I got mine in the first three pages and I have been in this space and reading him for years!
Just my toonies worth.
