Canada’s Future Leaders

  • by

I just spent the most amazing morning with 20 of Canada's leading youth, who have just been recognised as this years recipients of the award Canada's Top 20 Under 20. There were a great group of enthusisatic and engaged individuals who are already making a significant impact in this country, their communities and in the lives of Canadians. Some are running businesses, some non for profit groups and others are… Read More »Canada’s Future Leaders

When ‘The donald, GM & McDonalds are Blogging – You Know it is Getting Mainstream

  • by

Canadian businesses are not so quick to be rushing to the blogesphere – but US corporations are certainly jumping on the Blog Wagon in earnest. Vice Chairman Bob Lutx of GM is blogging – mostly product based rather than personal , but he's there, Donald Trump has a blog linked to Trump University and even McDonald's senior director of corporate responsibility has been blogging – defending the company's use of… Read More »When ‘The donald, GM & McDonalds are Blogging – You Know it is Getting Mainstream

At Least We’re Not West Virginia

  • by

On the recent long weekend in Canada, we took a trip down to New Jersey. Not my favourite place after spending a night sleeping at Newark airport just a couple of weeks previously – my view of the state was to say the least a little tainted. When I was doing some pharaceutical recruitment I also had a number of candidates who were considering moves to New Jersey head offices… Read More »At Least We’re Not West Virginia

Can I Interest You in a Credit Card?

  • by

In the last 2 weeks I have received at least 3 phone calls from MBNA Canada asking for someone who does not live at my address (and never has). When I inform them that this is the case I am then trated to a quick advertisement for the company's credit card. First time I did not think anything of it. Second time I became highly suspicious. Third time I got… Read More »Can I Interest You in a Credit Card?

Newspapers Are Not Dead

  • by

The last long weekend we went away for a few days to New Jersey (more about some other customer experiences there later) and I left it to the last minute to do anything about canceling delivery of local newspapers. Too late you might think, get the neighbours to pick them up – but no – I went online and was able to cancel newspaper delivery all from my computer with… Read More »Newspapers Are Not Dead

Sushi To Die For!

  • by

One of the restaurants I was able to sample while in San Fran was 'Blowfish – Sushi To Die For!' – great food in a funky modern atmosphere, quite loud music, tatooed servers – very NOT traditional Japanese style restuarants. When the bill came they had a great survey card included – "Blowfish Babble" It stated – "Ritsu wants to know…….Tell him what's on your mind" and then blank spaces… Read More »Sushi To Die For!

Do You Volunteer?

  • by

I was very proud to have received an award of excellence last week at the Career Professionals of Canada conference – "Outstanding Volunteer Contributor to the Community, sponsored by The Employers Choice. In the last two weeks I have been to both the Career Masters Institute and the Career Professionals of Canada conferences. The one big takeway for me from both is the strong sense of community from people who… Read More »Do You Volunteer?

Missed me, missed me, now you’re gonna kiss me!

  • by

After 9 days without blogging I have to admist a sense of guilt and withdrawl – is that good or sad? With two conferences to attend almost back to back and playing e-mail and client catch up in between it became a case of dropping something. When I was at the Career Masters Institute conference a good friend and colleague Kirsten Dixson of Brandego was presenting on leveraging technology and… Read More »Missed me, missed me, now you’re gonna kiss me!

A Rae of Sunshine?

  • by

With Bob Rae and several more politicians entering the race for the leadership of the Liberal party it will be interesting to see how this unfolds in terms of the various entrants brands. Rae a former NDP leader has built a reputation as a certain style and type of politician and now he is in effect appealing to a different group – will he be able to rebrand and succeed?… Read More »A Rae of Sunshine?
