Do I have to go Back to Corporate?

My kids love roller coasters. My son, in particular, wants to ride the most extreme, fastest, scariest he can find. Me I like watching from the ground. Seeing their faces when they step off, and then run around to queue up again. The life of the self-employed / entrepreneur / freelancer can definitely be a roller coaster. When you are busy you do not have time to look for new… Read More »Do I have to go Back to Corporate?

One of my clients has had the pleasure of going to the Oscars more than once and has been involved in the all important tallying of the votes – apparently it’s not quite as exciting as you might think!… Read More »And The Nominations for Best Personal Brand Are……..

How to behave badly on LinkedIn

I am always flipping between seeing LinkedIn as a useful tool and experiencing it as flea market.  But one place it should not be used for is to send terse rejection notes.   Meet Kelly Blazek. Or at least this might be one of the few places you might now see her. Following a particularly terse and some would say nasty rejection of a unsolicited request to connect on LinkedIn,… Read More »How to behave badly on LinkedIn

In the same year (2009) he and a friend and colleague from Yahoo founded WhatsApp the instant messaging service with now over 450 million users just sold to Facebook for $19 billion!  That is over $350 million per employee! What… Read More »Whats Upp? – $19 billion For Getting Interview Rejected That’s What

Did They Hear of Your Resume on the Vine?

This is not the last time I will be writing about this. The resume as a lead in career document has to end now! SERIOUSLY! 500 years ago Leonardo da Vinci wrote the first resume. He also produced designs for, among other things,  helicopters, contact lenses and parachutes. In terms of technology which do you think have advanced more since then? This lady is Dawn Siff, , she used Vine, the new… Read More »Did They Hear of Your Resume on the Vine?

Everybody’s Got Talent – Are people noticing yours?

  • by

Given the plethora of TV shows – everybody's got talent. One of the fun activities at our recent family camp was 'Talent Night'. Whilst it is generally arranged for the children to participate, we could not resist. We ended up delivering a re-worked version of LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" based on the camp. We managed to stay on stage! But will not be threatening LMFAO's status anytime soon! They certainly have… Read More »Everybody’s Got Talent – Are people noticing yours?

What’s your next job in the tech sector?

In some areas of products and services the technology sector is booming, in others it is going…..going….gone – FAST. I have attended a couple of local events recently that highlighted a very innovative and growing tech hub in the Hamilton area – there is a new smartphone app from Snap Pay for example that enables anyone to take credit card payments in seconds . One presentation from Pipeline Studios (a… Read More »What’s your next job in the tech sector?
